Jim and I bought a house! We closed on it last Monday, the 12th at 11 AM and then the rest of the day we spent moving me out of April’s house and into our home. We also drove to Wyoming to pick up Paul and Audrey’s truck only to forget their house key to get in and get the truck key. Dang it. So we nixed the truck and headed up to Whitehall to get my daybed, matress, kitchen table and chairs. Good thing we had Jim’s Expedition!! Then we headed back to our house in Jenison and unpacked more stuff. Wow… I never knew I had so much stuff. I am sure Jim wanted to call it something else… 😉 We also had our stove and fridge delivered on Monday. Thanks to Mom B for waiting there for the delivery men and for doing some cleaning for us!!
The rest of the week was more on the stressful/exhausting side of things. On Tuesday, we moved our main database at Mars Hill to a new server. A long long process that finally ended at 10 PM after a full day at work and the.element and a tech team meeting in between. I don’t need many of those days. Therefore, I didn’t get much more packing done. So, Wednesday after work we headed back to Kelsey St (sniff sniff) to move more of my stuff from April’s. Marissa, Sarah, Suz, Michele, April, Jim, and I had a nice “last supper” together. Sad and happy. Then we all headed to the house, so that they could see it.
On Thursday, Jim and I did some more moving (goodness!!). I had the biggest knot in my back at this point. I didn’t want to see another cardboard packing box.
On Friday I had to move the blasted Parent Pager systems to their new furniture. So, I didn’t get out of work until 1, when I was supposed to get out at 12. I busted a move to April’s yet again to get all of my food and to say a final good-bye to April, at least until October 28th, right?? My family came over to the house later on. They had seen the outside before we bought it, but hadn’t been inside yet. They were impressed, which made me feel good 🙂 We went to Meijer’s to buy blinds and other house items. Dad attempted to install the blinds, but since our windows are older than dirt we couldn’t install the hardware for them and had to wedge them in for now. Eh, just as long as no one can see in my windows, I am fine. Then we headed to Bob Evans for some food (Bob Evans… down on the farm… come on, you know you all love that song!)
Saturday was back up to Whitehall with my Braam family to hang out with my Paxson family. Mmm good food: steaks, oriental salad, potato salad, peach pie, apple pie, brownies, garlic bread. Good thing we spent the whole week moving.
Sunday was busy again. Parent Pager was used again, but only in the welcome center and baby area. I also had a lot of IT volunteers to assist me, so things went really well. I feel a lot better about it now.
Things have just started to slow down. I have most everything unpacked and put away. We are looking for a couch now, but have two recliners to sit in. We get Comcast cable and Internet on Thursday, so it’s starting to feel like home.
Now it’s back to wedding planning. We are 7 months and 28 days away!! Woo-hoo!!
