I’m a survivor…

I now have two less teeth in my head. Thanks for all the comments, calls, etc. The whole thing went pretty well, over all.
They took an x-ray when I got there and saw that my phantom tooth did indeed exist. So, I decided to get both out with just local anisthetic. Personally, I don’t do well with IV’s and am pretty slow coming out of them, so I don’t like them. So, I opted for the 8-10 injections into my cheeks, roof of my mouth, and jaw. It wasn’t as pleasant as when I had them before for fillings. As soon as he was done with injection number 10, I started to get real sweaty, the room started to get hazy and I got really woozy. They saw it happening so they slapped the oxygen on and a cold towel on my forehead. Apparently, I don’t do well with local anisthetic either. Shoot… I am not sure if the medicine didn’t sit right in my stomach or if it was the actual needle going into my mouth that did me in. The thought and feeling of needles going into me never does feel right.
Anyways, crisis adverted and they proceeded to pop the one I went in for right out. That was nice. The phantom was a little more stubborn. I guess it was partially impacted and it was below the gum. He had to cut a little and he said something about a bone (jawbone I guess), so I ended up with just one stitch.
I think the bleeding has stopped now. I had to stuff gauze in my cheeks for a few hours this afternoon, but I think the bleeding has stopped now. There really isn’t a ton of pain either. Nothing a couple Motrin can’t fix, so that’s nice. I do have the prescription for Vicodin though… jk! However, since I had two uppers removed, they did mention sinus complications as a side effect. I have had constant running eyes and nose today. Weird!
Today, I have eaten an ice cream shake, soup, a bowl of ice cream, tapioca pudding, and pancakes (very squishy ones). So healthy 🙂
I don’t really have any swelling. Jim can’t believe it. After his experience, I think he is slightly jealous 🙂 I actually put up our curtain rod and curtains in the dining room this afternoon. Drilled the holes in the wall and everything. I felt bad not going in to work, but I did have to swap out bloody gauze every hour. I guess that wouldn’t have been great to do at work…
