Summer is officially over… how did that happen? It sure doesn’t slow things down though. I have been working on a few huge projects at work, so things have been crazy. Jim’s work is getting a little busier. Football season has also started, so that means a few four or five hour fantasy drafts, watching every televised NFL football game, watching ever televised college football game (just because), and going to every high school game possible… Good thing I like sports and good thing we have two TV’s… otherwise Jim may be “sacked!” 🙂
The holiday weekend was good for us and pretty low key. Jim got Friday off too, so he studied up for his upcoming football drafts, played football on the XBOX 360, and washed his car. I worked until 1 and did nothing related to football. Saturday was Jim’s first draft at our house and I escaped for a date with Andrea. We ate our body weight in Applebee’s food (she gets her employeed discount) and then went to see Step Up… because we knew I wouldn’t be able to see it otherwise… at least not with my husband around. It was surprisingly good! The dancing was really cool and the story wasn’t that bad and was acted out pretty well. I don’t know if I would pay $9 to see it again. You may want to rent it. (The theater was raising money for “Jerry’s Kids” so I paid an extra dollar. I should have watched the Telethon to see if my name showed up on the top donor list…)
Sunday, my parents came for church and the afternoon. Jim had a draft from 2-7:30ish. That was a good day, which included my Mom’s fresh peach pie… with real whipped cream on top. Give me a piece and five more pounds of body fat, please 🙂 Buuuut, so worth it.
Yesterday, the Braam’s headed out on Kent Trails and rode our bikes from Jenison to Byron Center. Jim thought it was 10 miles, but we think it may have been 10 miles one way. But, it was a beautiful day. However, Dad Braam decided to go mountain biking on the hills along the trail, with Julie and Jim. Well, some other bikers were coming along and Dad was coming down the hill. He didn’t want to hit them, so he slammed on his brakes… and flew over the front of the bike and landed on his left side… on the side of his head. Luckily, Mom, Teresa, and I didn’t see it because we were up ahead. We finally realized they weren’t behind us anymore and decided that something must have happened. We rode back trying to decide who was the one that got hurt. Then we saw Dad with blood all over his face, shoulder, and head. Needless to say, we gave Audrey a call and she came with the truck and drove Dad and Mom home. He seems to be OK. He had to get stitches above his eyebrow, but there doesn’t seem to be any more damage.
Wednesday is the first night of high school ministry for Michele and I. We are pretty excited!
Hopefully the rest of the week will be free from injury… have a good one!
