We spent most of the weekend in Greenville. It’s actually a cute little town, who knew?? Jim, Josh Brandsen, Josh Roberts, and Brandon Terpstra played in the Macker basketball tournament up there. They did really well. On Saturday it rained the whole time they were playing. Usually they postpone the games to wait for the rain to stop and the court to dry up, but for some reason they kept playing. It really hurt the guys because they depend on their speed to score and you can’t make any fast movements on wet pavement. They can’t “throw their weight around” like most of the other guys can… because… well they don’t have extra weight. They lost one, won one, and had one game where the other team didn’t show up. That of course was the last game of the day, so we had to wait around for them to not show up.
Sunday, was totally different. It was sunny and dry. They won their first three games and beat the team they lost to on Saturday. They got into the finals, but had to beat this team (named “Been Dope”… oh man) two times because “Been Dope” had won one more game than them. Well, the guys were pretty tired from playing three games and the ref didn’t like to call fouls. The combination fo these things made it hard for the guys to win, so they lost that first game. But, they got second place! Good job, guys!
