So, I figured out that I stink at running, at least competitve running. I don’t like stinking at things. I’ve got two legs and so does everyone else, so I just have to figure out how to make them go fast like other people. This isn’t a pity party post, just a little project I am starting on.
You may have guessed it… I didn’t do so well at the Irish Jig. I can’t figure out why. I have been running all winter. I have run outside quite a few times before the run and it was colder than it was on Saturday. Do I psych myself out when I run with other people? Do I confuse my brain and legs with all the people running different speeds, so they don’t know what to do? I do find that I have really good runs in the afternoon or at night – after I get at least two good meals in me. Saturday, I only had a bagel – not enough energy maybe?
The next race I am doing is the Riverbank Run 10K on May 10. I am working on my mileage now. Up to four miles three or four times this week and then five miles for the first time on Saturday. Oooh boy.
And Jim and I went ahead and booked a trip to Tulum, Mexico for our anniversary. Here is a glimpse of heaven: http://www.dreamsresorts.com/dretu/index.html
We leave on May 11 and get back on May 17. This is the thing that is keeping me going right now… that’s not shallow is it?? 🙂
