Our church (also my place of employment) was in Time magazine… that’s odd.

I guess I am still not used to going to a church this huge (size and impact) after growing up in a church of 200.
On another church note…
In the beginning of this year, our church decided to “join the God of the oppressed.” Part of this is helping out the small African country Burundi. We are doing this by partnering with Turame – a microfinance organization. As I have mentioned before, I hang out with high schoolers on Wednesday nights. So, this past month we have tried to get the students to understand the impact we can have on an entire country by helping them have something very basic and essential – income. We gave a $5 loan to any student that wanted it and told them to use the money to raise more money to give to Turame. Our group joined efforts and bought plain ornaments from the dollar store and decorated them and resold them. Other kids made jewlery, did a bowling fundraiser, and made buttons. We don’t have the final numbers from our group or the entire group, but I think we are doing something awesome. It still amazes me that a group of high schoolers can help change an entire country. I love it!
We are learning a ton of stuff on Sundays, too. Listen to the December 2nd teaching here. Makes you rethink a lot of things… like how to raise your children…
Oh, don’t let him move the TV by himself! You might come home to him trapped beneath it. Good luck!
