Make it stop!!

Let’s see what has happened lately… well more like what hasn’t happened?!? Last week was a busy one for me. The 7th and 8th grade ministry at Mars Hill started up again for the year. One Tuesday, we had a time to meet the kids and catch up with them. Friday may have been one of the busiest days I have had in a really long time. I will start with a little preface: The Children’s ministry here has purchased a system called Parent Pager. It’s a nifty little system that checks kids in, prints out a nametag for them and a receipt for their parent. The parents of infants and special needs children receive a pager that they can have with them in the service in case their child needs them. Along with the system comes a computer, a touch screen monitor, a laser printer, a label printer, a webcam, and a proximity card reader. Well, they have 16 of these stations!! Anyway, I have been setting these stations up since I started working here. They have been done for a couple weeks and were just waiting to be moved to their permanent locations then would be used starting this last Sunday, September 11. So, now we are at last Friday. Custom furniture was being built for the stations. It was supposed to completed a while ago, but as of Friday morning, none of it was done yet. So, I waited until about 1 and finally they had two pieces that would hold three stations each and then another single station holder. Still not all of them, but enough to get started. So, we started to set up the equipment on the furniture, but then had to wait until the holes were cut so we could pull the cords through. Now we are at 2:30. I had to leave at 3 because I had to be to Jim’s by 5:30 for a wedding and still had to go home, shower, eat, and make it back to Jim’s through 5 o’clock traffic. That is no easy feat. So, I set up the first area and had volunteers who would be able to set up the rest as the furniture came. So, I buzz home and then back to Hudsonville for the wedding and Grandville for the reception. Then it was back to downtown GR for the remainder of April’s going-away party… which I missed most of 🙁 So that was Friday… a tad full you might say.
Then Saturday we set out to buy a fridge and stove from Sears. We went there knowing what ones we wanted, so you would think it would go quickly. Well, this ended up taking us over an hour… long story. Ask me and I may tell you.
Sunday started out very early… it was the first day of Parent Pager. Things didn’t go exactly as planned. The printers (32 of them) decided to uninstall themselves and not work at all for Sunday morning. I spent all of the morning running around installing the printers while dogging a couple thousand people. Not the best time of my life. Anywho… this is a really long blog. I will write a more interesting one soon!
