I can’t believe I leave on Friday for Africa! It has seemed like it was a far ways off, now it’s in three days.
As usual, whenever you go away, you have to do so much work to prepare for it. The big things are taken care of: I found a volunteer to watch the IT helpdesk at work while I am gone, Jim most likely won’t starve while I am gone and I think we have everything we need to bring to Burundi. The tough thing about the last one, is that you can’t just go to Best Buy if you need more memory for a computer and their Internet speed is slower than dial-up, so if you need to download a big update… you’ve got 8 hours to wait.
We fly out Friday night from GR and go to Chicago. Then it’s Chicago overnight to London. We have an 8 hour layover in London, so I hope we get to explore a little. That evening we fly overnight to Nairobi and get into Burundi on Sunday morning – finally! The way back is similar, except for a 12 hour layover in Nairobi.
I am praying we are able to do what we need to and also build relationships with the people there and of course hope to catch all of our flights and be safe!
I will post pictures when I get back and let you know how it went. Thanks for your prayers!

How long will you be gone for? I forgot…. 🙂 I’ll be praying for you! Have fun!
A 12 hour layover in Nairobi?? Hopefully you can get out of the airport and it’s not late at night. Believe me, it’s NOT a fun airport to be stuck at for hours and hours- been there, done that.
