New (old) love…

It’s been a busy week!

Last weekend, Jim and I had “Car Weekend.” I like naming things. Friday night we headed up to Whitehall and Montague for Cruisin’ 2006! It’s a parade of old cars and then they park over in Montague and you can look at them and/or hang out with friends. There were over 450 cars! I actually like cars, so it was fun for me. Jim of course loves cars. I also found my dream car: a 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible with the Pony interior and white vinyl top… ooooh beautiful!

Isn’t so pretty?? That wasn’t the actual one, but really similar. I know, I will keep dreaming.

Saturday night we headed to Berlin Raceway for Carstar’s Night at the Races. Jim’s work sponsors dinner, gifts, prizes, and free tickets to the race for their employees and their insurance agents. There were about 800 of us! It was super-duper hot, but actually a lot of fun. I hadn’t ever been to any kind of race track. We even had an awesome crash right in front of us. The guy’s tire came off and everything. He was so frustrated, he just climbed out of his car, went over and grabbed his tire, and then threw it into the pit. Good times…

Mars is doing something for the next several weeks that I am loving. We have created what we call the “Daily Office.” One of our worship leaders put together a book that you open everyday at 11 AM and 7 PM and stop and read a passage of Scripture or prayer. You just sit still for 10-15 minutes and just meditate on the words and God. A bunch always head down to the main hallway and just pops a squat on the floor. It is so refreshing and fun to see your coworkers sitting still on the floor pouring over a little book. It’s a nice break from the rush of the day.

So don’t forget to just stop and enjoy stillness once in a while…
